Many methodologies exist when it comes to teaching a new language. The teacher should implement a variety of different methods in order to engage the students and to keep them practicing the new language as much as possible. An ESA model should be followed within each lesson; engaging students so that they become interested in the lesson and begin with full attention; the study portion is where specific language lesson is explained, discussed, and then drills are given to the students for practice; and the activate stage is where the students put to use the lesson they just learned through dialogues or communication games, etc. Feedback should be predominately positive and should allow for students to spot and correct their own mistakes before the teacher. Feedback should only be given during the 'study' phase of the lesson and should be held back while the students are in free-flow communication.
