This unit talks about receptive skills and how they are equally important to the productive skills. I agree with that statement since I think every student is a unique individual. In my case, when I was starting to learn how to speak English, I focused on the receptive skills rather than the productive skills. I think most people who consider English as a foreign language have the same experience as me.
I now realized that it’s good to give equal importance to each of the skills. I can be versatile and work on my ESA to incorporate activities that can utilize all skills. I have to choose a topic that I think many students can relate to, various topics that may be comfortable for some but may be challenging for others. The important thing is for the students to be exposed to a lot of materials and topics. This is essential because reading and listening are life skills. They will use it because it is a necessity and also for pleasure.
