This first unit covered some very important topics for future ESL teachers. The first topic, what makes a good teacher, talks about the qualifications needed to be a good teacher. I believe this is important because when it comes to teaching you need to be able to put the students needs first and know how to accomplish those needs. I also found the section about how to determine a students level important. It is important to plan lessons based on a students levels. If you bring in a lesson more advanced than the student, they will be discouraged and easily lose concentration or motivation. The same goes for if you bring in a lesson to easy for a student, they will become bored, and you will be wasting the students time. Overall, I believe that these topics are great introduction topics that everyone should cover.
