The two videos demonstrate two contrasting teaching techniques with profound different results; one effective and the other not efffective. There was a clear-cut difference between establishing a good rapport in the second lesson as against a very poor rapport in the first lesson. The second lesson began with engaging the student in a discussion in a context they were familiar with and this made the students actively participated in the class discussion and thus produced high student talk time. The first lesson, however, appeared to have started with the study approach whereby students were asked series of questions, further causing more difficult and hostile learning atmosphere. In summary, it can be inferred from the two lessons that establishing a good rapport and a positive-teacher-attitude is a determining factor for a successful class.
