Teachers have a very important role in facilitating the learning of their students, they do this by taking on different roles (manager, assessor, model etc.) which allow them to be both supportive and instructive and demonstrate their command of the subject matter. Learners bring different things into the classroom depending on their age language level (beginner-advanced) and background which affects their motivation, experience and behaviour in the class. These factors will affect the teaching methods used and the role the teacher should play. The main thing I learned in this unit was the way a students age affects their motivation and thus the methods that should be used to motivate them and keep the class interesting.
