In unit 1 I've learned the characteristics that make a good teacher, the different roles of a teacher and when to use those roles. I've also learned what makes a good learner and how age can contribute to a student motivation and intent to learn a new language. The student's culture can also play a factor in how the student learns and interacts in a classroom environment. Furthermore, students can be at different levels in their language abilities, some beginners and other more advanced. The student's motivation to learn a language can vary but in general it's for the betterment of their language abilities, to create more opportunities and give them a greater chance of success in our global environment. Finally, I've learned how to understand the type of learners I will be teaching, what is motivating them and how provide the right teaching style to help them be successful.
