In this lesson, I learned about managing a classroom. An important take away from this lesson was that you don’t need to be the most demanding or outgoing teacher to maintain control, order, and motivation in the classroom. Rather, the best teachers are able to utilize tools and techniques to keep their classroom intimate, fresh, engaging, disciplined, and relaxed when needed to be. There are many ways that this environment can be cultivated and the first component is through knowing when and why to use specific body language. Second, it is critical to know when and why it is appropriate to group students, and when it is appropriate to enforce individual work. Additionally, it is important to know how to set up the classroom, and keeping the students engaged.
