In this unit, we were to learn about evaluating students' levels and progress in learning the english language. The purpose of these assessments are to evaluate a starting point of a student and their knowledge of English, and further, track the improvement of a student. Assessments offer ongoing feedback for an educator to evaluate if what they are doing is useful to the students, and what might need to be adjusted in ones lesson planning. There are several different ways that a teacher can assess a students language level and progress which include, tutorials, evaluation by the students themselves, and tests. It is important as an education to schedule formal assessments to asses the overall progress of a student at the end of a lesson, and also to have documentation of your teaching and the improvement of the students for the institution of employment. There are many different types of tests which include, placement tests, progress tests, achievement tests, and external examinations.
