Int his chapter I have learned about materials that is used in the classroom. There are 2 main types of materials which are authentic materials and created material. Authentic materials are taken from real life such as newspapers. Although they are not created for the use of teaching, a good selection of the materials may motivate students as students will feel like what they learn in class can be used in real life. On the other hand, created materials are usually created by the teachers based on the level of the class. Example of created materials are role play cards and gap fill activities. Besides the materials used in class, I have also learnt about course books. There are advantages and disadvantages of using course books in class. Although course books are tested and provides a syllabus for teachers to follow, overuse of course books may result in students thinking that the teacher is lazy or students will be able to predict the class content too easily and lose interest in it. A good way to use course books will be to choose suitable lessons from the course books and supplement or replace the contents of the course book to students' needs.
