Lesson planning is an important aspect of teachers ‘ work if he/she wants to achieve success with his/her students. Having a carefully constructed lesson plan allows the teacher to enter the classroom with considerably more confidence. There are many forms and templates when it comes to lesson planning, and with time and experience a teacher will devise his/her own that work best for their students. There are, however, a couple of points that should be included in a well structured lesson plan, such as learner objectives, teacher’s personal aims, language point that is being taught, teaching aids needed for the lesson, anticipated problems for both teacher and students, procedure and timing, which types of activities will be incorporated, number of students etc. After the lesson has been taught, a teacher should reflect on whether the lesson was successful or not and what can be improved. A professional teacher will always try to perfect his/her teaching skills and the only way to do that is through self evaluation. In addition to planning individual lessons, a teacher should also pay attention when it comes to planning a sequence of lessons so that he/she sequences the lessons appropriately, that is starting from simpler language structures and gradually introducing more complex ones.
