In this unit, I learned what it takes to manage a classroom. I learned that I do not have to be a very happy energetic person in order to be a good teacher and that one’s style of teaching develops with time. As a teacher, I should inspire confidence to the students in order for them to learn effectively. I understand that classroom management is the skill of organizing and managing the class, having a friendly manner and maintaining discipline.
I learned the use of eye contact, gestures, and voice and how to use a student’s name as well. This unit showed how to group students, the advantages, and the disadvantages and how to arrange a classroom in order to get the most out of students. I understand that seating arrangements play a part in having a productive classroom, especially if I know about the teacher’s position and how to conduct myself according to class activities.
Writing on the board is something that is most likely unavoidable; this unit explains how to use this part of the class effectively. I learned the do’s and don’ts of giving individual attention, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of teacher talking time and student talking time. In this unit, I learned how to give instructions effectively. This unit showed me how to establish a good rapport with the students and how to maintain discipline in the classroom.
