Unit 1 was about understanding the scope and extent of the TEFL course, as well as understanding the two basic components of a teaching-learning environment, namely, the teacher and the student. This unit has allowed me to get a clear picture of the classroom environment, and what are the hallmarks of a good teacher and a good student. Knowing these basic attributes makes it clear to evaluate oneself as a good teacher, and to understand the mindset of a learner. It is therefore easier to conceive the right approach to the teaching process, so it can be fulfilling both for the learner as well as for the teacher.
