I think tenses are the biggest nightmare of any English language learner. There are at least twelve of them and some of them are borderline similar. This is where a teacher needs to step up to make a class really interesting and innovative, since the subject is although very important, at the same time quite dull and boring. That is why I really appreciate the activate phase ideas, suggested in this unit as an hounorable attempt to introduce some entertainment to the subject of tenses. We need to remember that there are several learning styles, like visual, auditory and kinesthetic, and sometimes it is necessary to use different teaching tools to activate a full range of that spectrum. I haven’t found this unit redundant, rather the opposite: only essential information presented in the form of lists with catchy examples and short comments where needed.
