This unit introduces how students are evaluated and tested. It introduces several different external examinations that students may take. It explains what he exam is and the reason a student may need to take it. A bit more pertinent to the course and learning aspect was the introduction of several tests that are given to students while enrolled in an EFL course. These tests are placement, progress, diagnostic and practice tests. Practice tests are used to mimick and prepare the student for an external exam. Progress tests are given periodically throughout the course to evaluate retention of learning and to identify strengths and weaknesses. Placement test is given before the course begins in order to assess a student’s language level. Diagnostic test is given at the start of a course to seee where the student is at and to offer potential lesson planning tips for the teacher to better suit the student.
