This unit taught me the roles and characteristics of a good teacher. Specifically, I learned that a teacher must be largely invested in their students learning experience and often switch between being active and passive in the classroom. I also learned the characteristics and motivations of different types of students, as well as their general language levels classifications. The most important thing I learned was that teachers had to establish trust between themselves and their students, so they could provide effective feedback while continuing to encourage students' participation and engagement.
