As briefly mentioned, I believe that the receptive skills are more easily acquired, if not employed, by learners of a foreign language. I say this because receptive skills do not place as heavy as a burden on the learner when compared to productive skills. When reading and listening, a learner can make sense out of the material at hand wether it is completely correct or not. When writing and speaking, mistakes are much more identifiable. Nevertheless, both productive and receptive skills must be properly trained and regarded as equally important.
