This unit compared many methodologies of teaching and explained which were thought to be more useful for the ESA format and which were not, as well as what level of learning each was most appropriate for. It explained elicitation and several techniques to use in eliciting language use from the student and increasing student talk time. It thoroughly went over each part of Engage, Study, Activate (ESA), providing methods, games, and various other ideas useful for each stage. It helped me to understand methods of correction and why it is best to try to get the student to self-correct first, and only to correct if neither they nor a fellow student could help correct. This unit gave me a far more thorough knowledge about what's involved in teaching and how creative and fun it can be. It shows a far less rigid structure than that with which I was schooled. I found this refreshing and challenging as I know there is still much more for me to learn and how, with time and experience, I will have even more techniques at my disposal.
