I'm not sure what my host school's testing policy will be, but I prefer informal, continual evaluation rather than formal tests. I like progress tests to discover where students are and what they are struggling with, but I want students to learn in order to understand the material. I don't want them to just memorize information to pass a test. Since Korea places such importance on exams and grades, this will be an adjustment for me. I'll have to be careful to design tests that require critical thinking.
