This unit covered some interesting topics. Modal verbs are often employed in the English language and their application is understood by native speakers. By that, I mean that a listener would understand the degree of "obligation, possibility, etc" due to constant exposure to the language. It would not be entirely incorrect to say that many are interchangeable. I found the application of the passive voice interesting since other languages utilize it to demonstrate politeness and so on. Phrasal verbs were particularly difficult to categorize, although using them correctly is second nature. It will be difficult to teach students about the use and regulations regarding the classifications of them.
