In the vocabulary, grammar, and functions section of the this course I learned how to help students learn vocabulary, introduce grammar structures, and teach language structures. Through boomerang, patchwork, and straight arrow type lesson structures, you can help students learn more effectively. I found it interesting when teaching new vocabulary to keep in mind how similar the new language is to their mother tongue and the English words they already know, and how greatly this can effect their learning of new vocabulary. In addition to this, I learned it is important for students to understand the meaning of the word, its use, forms and patterns, and spoken and written form, in order for the student to truly retain their new vocabulary and grammar structure knowledge.
