In this unit, I learnt the difference between past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous tense(s). Drawing from what I learnt in the previous present tense unit, I was able to better differentiate between the usage of each tense and identify points, clues or aspects that reveal what tense it may be. Key words such as has been, enabled me to identify past perfect continuous. Actions before other actions in the past for past perfect. Specific times and gradual processes for past continuous and the difference with irregular (simple) verbs - seeing this as a point for easy confusion among students.
