This unit goes over techniques to use when teaching new language. It makes the distinction between learning new vocabulary, new grammar structures, and functions - each of which are only useful when combined with a suitable degree of ability in the others. For this reason, lessons should be able to combine an appropriate level on exposure to each aspect of new language. Examples of lessons using the Engage-Study-Activate approach are included to show how new vocabulary, grammar, or language functions can be taught.
