In Unit 7 I learned about the important elements of teaching vocabulary and grammar as well as useful techniques to utilize. Teaching vocabulary is important starting at an early age. The difficulty level of the vocabulary typically depends on it's similarity to the child's native language, the similarity to the already known English language, spelling/pronunciation, and the vocabulary's appropriacy. A very straight forward technique for teaching vocabulary would be the E-S-A method. First you would engage the students with mimes, photos, and discussions. Next you would have students study with word searches, crossword puzzles, and matching games. Finally, the activate phase is done by using discussion in pairs, role-play, and story building.
