In this unit I learned initially about admirable qualities of an effective teacher. Amongst several characteristics I believe the most important one is caring about your students and their learning progress. Along with this, teachers can take on multiple roles to approach their teaching approach. Some roles are very involved while others are more observant or supportive. Each are appropriate for different situations. I also learned about the qualities of a good learner. Although motivation and desire were both key elements, I believe that an open-minded attitude is one of the most crucial parts of a learner's success and progress. Learners can consist of a wide range of age, culture, and language level, so it is important to be aware of all aspects when considering your method of teaching. Everything from classroom behavior to anxiety and lack of desire can alter from one age group to another. However, all students have their own reason for learning English. Some reasons include the desire to travel, work, or study in countries that primarily use English. Younger learners want to improve their grades and communication skills.
