In American classrooms, I have worked with English Language Learners in middle school, high school, and university settings. I trust my strategies for propelling these young learners forward with their English abilities, but I have never worked with students older than their early 20s. When considering what I've learned from this first unit, I'd like to highlight the language awareness of adults:
The suggestion that adult learners are more likely to try and match their new language to their native language is extremely helpful information to have. Already, I've been able to start brainstorming possible strategies for providing older learners with context and practice using lessons that I've used with my younger learners.
