Unit 9 covered the overall procedure of planning lessons. I learned the three basic functions of a lesson plan, things to consider when writing it, and ways to be organized and prepared ahead of time. I was taught the basic template of a lesson plan including things such as needed teaching aids, learner objectives; anticipated problems and solutions, etc. The main part of the lesson plan is listing the procedures, and which phase they are, how long each should take, and the main direction of interaction. I also learned that it is important to self-evaluate after each lesson and keep a record in order to know my own strengths and weaknesses and continue to improve. Lastly, I learned that when planning a sequence of lessons, I should consider flexibility, goals, revision (review), and include variety and balance. This unit helped me feel less like a fish out of water and let me know how I can be completely prepared before entering the class.
