Again, I really wish I had this resource during my first year of teaching. I asked my colleagues and head master for help, I consulted the internet, and finally, I asked my cousin, an elementary school art teacher, how she maintained control of her classes. Thankfully my cousin had crafted a manual of best practices for teachers of young students and passed that along to me. It proved to be a wonderful source of hope and inspiration for the rest of the school year. However, the makeshift manual was not as thorough as this unit. I noticed that I naturally mimicked the teachers I had while a young person and that I projected a calm and respectful adult in front of my students. Most of the time. I did had two classes a week that I dreaded due to the overwhelming had behavior of the students within. I had nightmares about the 4 year olds and 11 year olds, that I just wanted to quit. Needless to say, I never gave up and somehow made it through no sorry for wear.
