How well a class is managed can be affected and determined by a number of things that are outlined in unit 5. How a teacher presents themselves, eye contact, gesture, and voice can go a long way in keeping students engaged and attentive. There are different ways to group students for activities as well as in the classroom. Each way will have pro and cons that are pretty intuitive, and generally being dedicated to using a variety of groupings and arrangements will get best results. Decreasing teacher talk time is beneficial because it allows more talk time for the students. There are ways a teacher can decrease teacher talk time, much of which are visual and planned out in advance. Instructions should be carefully constructed. Rapport and discipline will be best when the teacher is well prepared, enthusiastic, respectful, and fair.
