Reading and listening are receptive skills. They have the same importance but obviously listening is more difficult because the time is not decided by the listener while in reading we can return to concepts. There are different reading techniques and the choice of material with which we want to teach depends on the level of the student. Naturally choosing material that arouses interest greatly helps for learning. Pre-teaching the words that are new and essential to understand will help the learners but we should also stimulate to try to understand texts without knowing every word. This is a skill that we should encourage in our students and also would help the confidence of the student.
