In this unit, I have learned about classroom management, i.e. to manage the class in a friendly and relaxed way while maintaining discipline. In this context, I have also learned about the importance of the teacher’s voice, gestures and eye contact with the students. Another aspect of classroom management is grouping students. This can be done in different ways and each method has its pros and cons. I have learned about the meaning of groupwork, pairwork, students working on their own and whole-class grouping. Futhermore, I have learned about classroom arrangement, the teacher’s position, how to give instructions, establish rapport and maintain discipline.
