The unit is about the basics of classroom make-up. It includes possible student levels and abilities, as well as teacher models for areas of class/lessons.
As an instructor/teacher of a physical activity/sport I have seen the change in my field from just leading a course to allowing students to not only self study, but to engage in discussions about the topic of the day.
Each student learns differently and each class as a whole will learn at a set pace, but that does not mean that each class is different. Young students may not have a choice to be in your class, but are usually programmed to follow the teachers lessons as they do for most of their schooling. Where as an adult may need more time to understand how a topic relates to their use of a language. As a teacher we are not just managing a class we are also motivating their learning experience.
