Teaching vocabulary, grammar, and language functions to ESL students can be broken down into several areas such as introduction of vocabulary, grammar structures and language functions. Each area can be used with the ESA format of engage, study and activate. These areas are covered for the student so they can be exposed to the new vocabulary, understand the meaning, how it is constructed and to practice and produce the new language.
