In Unit 2 we discussed the parts of speech, of which there are many. I agree that as a native English speaker many of these rules are ones we learned without actually understanding the rules as they happened as a consequence of speaking the language before learning to read or write it. As such, I feel that when teaching the parts of speech to English Language Learners, having an arsenal of spoken and written examples for each rule will be vital. I'm considering options for memorization techniques particularly in the case of verbs. I also realize how confusing parts of speech can be to learn so I want to make sure to develop activities that help make the lessons fun and easier to follow.
