This unit gave an overview of several teaching methodologies including the method taught in this course, ESA. It discussed different ways that the Engage, Study, and Activate method is used in a classroom setting, and how the different elements can be arranged to create appropriate lesson plans. Each element was broken down with detailed examples and activities given for each stage, and different level of student knowledge. Correction and praise were also discussed in detail, focusing on when and how to correct a student, encouraging self-correction, and other student involvement. Emphasis was placed on the importance of being sensitive when correcting a student, remaining positive and giving praise whenever possible, and during which parts of the lesson it is appropriate to offer this feedback. Additionally the importance of observation and monitoring progress so the teacher can make plans and corrections according to their existing lesson plans.
