The comparison between the usage of authentic and created content is of high importance to any teacher. My belief is in striking a balance by having a well prepared lesson that incorporates both entities. We dont want the lesson to be a robotic, monotonous lesson. Adding some authentic elements should spice up the lesson and entertain yet interest the learners, creating a more eager enviroment to learn the English language. Im sure we have all experienced classes in school, where the lesson was extremely boring and our motivation level was low, resulting in us, the students, not applying ourselves as well as not getting high grades . Also, having a good resource for these acitivites will help when planning the lesson. Students need to have that admired feeling of progression be it at academic English as well as being comfortable with the daily use of English, if applicable. The point of us teaching them is so that they will be able to use English in an academic or working enviroment as well as it being a resource for them in their everyday lives be it now or in the future. Striking the balance is key.
