In this unit, it introduces us about the coursebooks and lesson materials.There are 2 groups fo these materials: anthentic materials and created materials.
Authentic materials refer to anything a native speaker would hear or read, such as programs, magazines, newspapers, songs, poems, brochures, menus, films on video, etc. This kind of materials are real and interesting, but they are not designed for the EFL students, so should be selected carefully.
Created materials are designed by the teacher to replace or supplement materials from a course book. Common created materials include: crosswords, word search puzzles, role-play cards, flashcards, gap fill activities and picture stories.
Course books usually consist of student't book, workbook, cassettes, teacher's book, a video, testbooks,etc.There are advantages and disadvantages of course books, teachers should make best use of them. Four different options for course book use: omit, replace, supplement and adapt.
