Unit 11 introduces how to teach receptive skills. Receptive skills are listening and reading.
It is important to make sure to pick texts that are interesting to the students so maybe it would be a good idea to present texts about different topics. It is also crucial to pay attention to the level of the learners. A text that is too difficult might make them unmotivated and a text that is too easy might bore them.
It is also important to introduce the comprehension tasks. For example, new vocabulary should be explained and an engage activity should spark the students´ interest beforehand.
I thought the first part of the text was interesting because it introduced the different receptive skills, like predictive skills, scanning or skimming.
