Life, in whatever you do, is about balance. For example, all roles that a teacher must fill are good, but too much of any of these positions can be damaging to the students' learning experience. Teachers that only work in lectures fail to give students opportunity to collaborate with their material and fellow learners. This being said, a teacher who only works in group activities may find themselves with students who are lost and falling behind, or a general lack of structure in the students' minds.
The same can be said about student qualities. If a student is too intent on being a good listener in class, but never speak, they loose the chance to interact and practice their language they are learning. If a student is too talkative though, it inhibits the teachers ability to properly guide the student. If it is a classroom setting, the other students ability to interact is also limited if said student is the only one talking.
