It was fascinating to learn and think about what makes a good teacher and learner. It is now clear that you need to have the right qualities, such as being kind and caring, lively, motivational etc but also to love teaching. This also needs to be matched with an understanding of the multiple different roles a teacher has to undertake and when to play each role. It was also fascinating to learn about what makes a good learner and what factors can influence a students learning such as age, experience, motivation, culture and language level. It is clear that the relationship between a teacher and a pupil is very important and can sometimes be complex, but being enthusiastic, caring, sensitive and motivated is the most effective way to ensure students achieve the best results.
