The content of this unit covered the receptive skills of language which are reading and listening. Speaking and writing are productive skills and all 4 are equally important for learning a language and should equally be taught in the classroom. The teacher should break down when each skill is taught and try to incorporate all 4 into each lesson. I learned a Lesson Plan for how to teach the receptive skills through audio and reading, answering questions, discussing hard vocabulary before the activity starts, and engaging all the students together in speaking and discussing what they have learned. I learned it is important to pick topics that cater to the interest of the students because this will help them learn much easier. I also learned how we read and listen, the different reasons we read, and the several types of reading we do whether it be skimming, scanning, for a purpose, etc.
