Unit two is a basic introduction and an overview of parts of speech. This unit was well sectioned and dealt with the following way; Nouns: Under nouns, common nouns, proper nouns, compound nouns, abstract nouns and collective nouns were taught. Nouns are very simple to understand and most language learning begins with memorizing nouns. Adjectives which are defined as words which describe nouns were then introduced. Here, adjective were sectioned by how they differ from person to person thus comparatives and superlatives. Comparatives place the state of an adjective between two people or groups, while superlatives take the adjectives' status to be compared among three or more persons. English articles were then introduced and stressed upon as only three exist, an, a (indefinite articles), and "the" (indefinite article). Next was verbs. Transitive verbs and intransitive verbs then auxiliary verbs were taught in this chapter. This was only an overview for verbs will still be deeply introduced in later chapters. It is always a phenomenon to introduce adverbs after verbs. Adverbs add meaning to verbs. They are mostly formed by adding "ly" to adjectives. When "ing" is added to a verb and used as a noun, it is called a gerund. Pronouns were defined as taking the place of nouns at certain stages of a sentence. They were divided into personal, possessive, reflexive and relative pronouns. After pronouns, then came prepositions and conjunctions. Prepositions describe the position of a noun and conjunctions such as "and" link sentences together. Details on parts of speech are still to be discussed in the later chapters. Unit 2 was more of an introduction to it. However, this unit could be made more elaborate.
