Having watched both videos for Unit 10, it was astounding to see the difference between both lessons. The first video provided a great example of how important it is to establish a connection with the class right from the beginning, and to maintain it throughout the lesson for it to be successful and tp keep the students engaged. The fist lesson lacked structure, instructions, personality, proper behaviour to the students, lacked problem solving and in no way was the teacher in Video 1 ready to adapt or even willing to be flexible or encouraging with most students. In Video 2, the teacher does a quick Engage activity with the names to get the students concentrated, he then begins making some sentences with the rest of class to cover some basic vocabulary and grammar, and provides insight into the direction of the lesson. In Video 2 the teacher is encouraging, he doesn't stop the lesson when a late student arrives, he plan was clearly more structured and and by being friendly and properly explaining himself as the class progressed, the increase in the level of the students' English rose significantly.
