Productive skills, speaking and writing, are just as important as receptive skills, so it is important to focus on teaching and cultivating these to students. Although demonstrating fluency through speaking is often prioritized in an ESL classroom setting, it is also important to check accuracy through writing exercises and activities as well. We can do so by having an arsenal of activities available in our lessons in both the Study and Activate stage.
