Unit I provided a foundational understanding of the qualities usually reflected in "good" teachers and "good" students. Though these qualities, of student and teacher, are of course, as different as the roles themselves, they are complimentary. For example, where having the ability to ask questions, is a good quality for a student, the compliment to that is, a teacher's ability to correct students without offending them or affecting their motivation. The roles of the teacher we're also explained and the examples of when and how teachers step into those roles. Also, this unit gives some insight into the levels of student's comprehension and abilities with the English language, and some suggested reasons why a student would study English as a second language. This unit gave me a good understanding of the foundations of what is usually expected from both teachers and students in an ESL classroom setting.
