This unit focused on the concepts of student evaluation and different types of testing that can be conducted throughout the school year which will aide in assessing student progress and retainment of information. There are placement and diagnostic tests which a usually given at the beginning of a course in order to determine the language knowledge of the students thus preparing the teacher with ideas on which topics need more attention. Practice tests are used to prepare individuals for external exams which are not taught in language schools such as the PET. Finally, progress tests inform the teacher of what information students have retained and are understanding. I learned the specific names of each of the test mentioned prior as well as more in depth information on their value to the teacher for evaluating students and being able to better assist them with lesson planning in the future.
