I believe that lesson planning is one of the most important functions of teaching. Although it can be daunting, it is a necessary roadmap for instruction. In addition to planning a lesson it is important to practice the lesson. Students can pick up on when a teacher is unprepared and although a lesson plan may be in place it is important to rehearse and refine. One other important note I made about lesson plans is that they must be adaptable. I have found it very difficult to follow a lesson plan down to the minute and trying to do so can cause anxiety. Understanding the learner objectives is perhaps the most important part.
