Unit 5 was on managing a classroom. This has proved difficult for me in the past because I was always younger than any of my students and therefore had a hard time establishing rapport and in some cases enforcing my authority. (telling them they should only be communicating in German with each other.) The unit went over the basics: eye contact, ice-breakers, remembering names… As someone who hates working in a group or even a pair, I must remember the advantages to whole-class grouping and pairwork. As for the TTT and STT, this is also something vital I must continuously keep in mind, as it is easy to get carried away, thinking that hearing fluent English is helpful, when in fact it would be more helpful to engage with the students or leave them to their activities.
