In this unit I learned that there are a lot of important characteristics that a teacher must have. Some of the most important characteristics to me would be to want to motivate their students. They have to be passionate about teaching and have patience. I also learned that there are a variety of different reasons why people choose to learn english and usually adult learners are more motivated,because they were not forced to enroll into an english course as opposed to a child. Although children might not want to learn english they are often more willing to make an attempt because they are not scared to look silly or feel embarrassed. Lastly there are a lot of different levels of expertise that people will be on in regards to english, and as a teacher it will be my responsibility to make sure that every student is constantly trying and constantly learning all while feeling comfortable in my classroom.
