The unit covers the first four of the twelve verb tenses. These are the present tenses and include: Present Simple Tense. The form for this tense is subject + base verb (s/es). “I can swim.” Present Continuous is used to show something that is currently happening. The form is subject + auxiliary verb ‘be’ + verb + ing. “I am currently swimming.” Present Perfect relates something from the past to the present time. The form is subject + auxiliary verb ‘have/has’ + past participle. “I have swum to the other end of the pool 10 times.” Present Perfect Continuous is used to show an action continuing up until he present point in time. The form is subject + auxiliary verb ‘have/has’ + ‘been’ + verb + ing. “I have been swimming many times.”
