This unit has given me a more systematic view of the roles of teachers and students in learning English as a foreign language. Most of the information I had known before reading this unit, yet I appreciate how the information (of roles, differences between adult learners as compared to younger learners, etc.) is classified and labelled clearly. Also, I had not known about the 6 levels of English learners defined by the Council of Europe, or the equation of this frame with the breakdown I already knew, which comprises of Beginners, Elementary, Pre-intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate, and Advanced; so this is interesting and beneficial information to me. The unit also helps me understand that to be able to maintain/build motivation in the learners, I should have a love of teaching English.
